The DfE expects all schools to have Climate Action Plans in place by 2025, identifying steps schools are taking to address;
- Decarbonisation
- Adaptation and Resilience
- Biodiversity
- Climate Education and Green Careers
A school Climate Action Planning template, developed by Let’s Go Zero, is available here.
Example decarbonisation actions from OSOW training: OSOW Activity Handout – Decarbonisation Actions
Through the Our Schools Our World programme, schools focus on termly themes and create change through staff, student and family actions.
Alongside these termly actions, school leaders and business managers may identify and work towards long term, high impact actions.
The Climate Action Plan is a working document which will evolve as schools address new themes.
Climate Action Advisors from Let’s Go Zero are able to support individual schools with their Climate Action Plans – you can register your interest here.
Climate Action Advisors are also able to support schools to calculate their Carbon Footprint using the Count Your Carbon tool.
