Mount Stewart Juniors recently kicked off its Waste and Consumption theme, which was the perfect chance to launch the Eco Refill Shop last term. It’s been a big hit, with lots of excitement and great support from across the school community.
They also ran a Waste and Consumption Challenge, where children from all year groups were invited to create something at home using waste materials. The results were amazing – pupils came up with some really creative and inspiring ideas, giving old items a whole new life.
To keep the sustainability message going, the school organised a Toy Swap, encouraging children to reuse and share toys rather than buying new ones. It was a really fun event and enjoyed by everyone who took part.
On top of this, the newsletter now includes a Science and Sustainability Spotlight. This is a space to celebrate the brilliant work happening around the school, share upcoming activities, and introduce monthly pledges that encourage children and families to take small but meaningful steps to help look after our planet.
